إننا نعيش عصر حديث وعالم معاصر يتسمان بالتطورات السريعة والتغيرات المستمرة حيث تتزايد الاكتشافات العلمية باستمرار، وتشعبت مجالات التخصص وقد حصل الإنسان خلال هذا القرن وحده على معلومات تزيد على ما حصل عليه خلال تاريخه الطويل بكامله.
وأمام هذا الفيض الهائل من المعلومات وتنوع مصادرها ومراجعها وأوعيتها نشأت مشكلة ضرورة السيطرة على هذا الكم الهائل من المعلومات وضرورة تنظيمها وتصنيفها، ولهذا ظهرت ضرورة ملحة في استخدام تقنيات المعلومات والتي يترأسها الحاسوب.
وتعد المكتبات الجامعية من أهم أنواع المكتبات لما لها ارتباط وثيق بمؤسسات تعليمية تتبع المنهج الأكاديمي والذي بدوره يتطلب وجود مكتبة متكاملة.

We live in the world of modern and contemporary era are of continuing rapid developments and changes where scientific discoveries are increasing constantly, and has branched out areas of specialization human happened during this century alone information than what happened during the whole long history.
Faced with this enormous flood of information and the diversity of sources and references, and its veins problem arose the need to control this vast amount of information and the need to organize and classify, but this appeared an urgent need to use the computer and headed by information technology.
The university libraries of the most important types of libraries because of their close association educational institutions follow the academic curriculum, which in turn requires the presence of an integrated library.
