There are different ideas about the origin of Arabic writing. Some scholars consider it to be something divine, some say it is an invention, others rely on material proofs and claim that it is created from ancient scripts. Theories are formed on the basis of these ideas. The present article is about theories on the origins of Arabic script. The author scrutinized the works by Arabic and European researchers about the origin of Arabic script; classified these theories and provided information about the formed theories,
