يتناول الكتاب مدخلًا وتعريفًا مهمًّا بالمذهب الحنبلي، يمكن الدارس له من الإلمام بطبيعة هذا المذهب وما ينبغي معرفته خلال دراسته، ويقدم خلاصةَ خبرةٍ طويلةٍ بالمذهب تُيسِّر للباحث فيه كثيرًا مما يحتاج إليه للدراية بالمذهب ومطالعة كتبه، ويجمع له شتات ما تفرَّق في غيره.
وقد جاء في تمهيد وستة فصول وخاتمة، تحدث التمهيد عن نشوء المدارس الفقهية واتجاهاتها. ثم جاء الفصل الأول ليؤرخ للمذهب الحنبلي منذ نشأته وتأسيسه، مرورًا بتطوره وانتشاره، ووصولًا لحالته الآن. ثم جاء الفصل الثاني ليبين مصطلحات المذهب، سواء أكانت هذه المصطلحات للإمام في أجوبته، أو لأصحابه في نقل المذهب وحكايته والترجيح فيه، أو في الرمز إلى مشاهير الأصحاب. ثم كان الفصل الثالث الذي عرض لأصول المذهب من النصوص الشرعية، والإجماع، وأقوال الصحابة، والقياس، والمصالح المرسلة، وسد الذرائع، والاستحسان، والاستصحاب، والعرف، وشرع من قبلنا. وعرض الفصل الرابع لأشهر المؤلفات في المذهب في الفقه والفتاوى وأصول الفقه والقواعد الفقهية ولغة الفقه وتاريخ المذهب وطبقاته. أما الفصل الخامس فتناول تعدد الروايات في المذهب الحنبلي، وكيفية بيان المعتمد فيه. وأخيرًا الفصل السادس الذي عني بإبراز أهم مزايا المذهب الحنبلي، من جمع إمامه بين الحديث والفقه، وانفراد المذهب بالقول بعدم غلق باب الاجتهاد، وتميزه في مجال العقود والشروط، وأخذه بنظرية الباعث واعتبار المآلات، وجمعه بين الاحتياط والتيسير، وكونه مذهبًا واقعيًّا قام على الإفتاء. ثم كانت الخاتمة التي رصدت نتائج الدراسة، وتلاها ثبت المراجع.
وقد انتهجت الدراسة عدة مناهج للوصول إلى غاياتها، أهمها المنهج الوصفي، والمنهج الاستقرائي، وكذلك المنهج التحليلي والمنهج الاستنباطي، والتزمت المنهجية العلمية في العزو والتوثيق، كما راعت أن يكون الكتاب وسطًا بين الاختصار والتطويل، قريب المأخذ، سهل العبارة، يفهمه كل دارس وباحث.

The book deals with an important introduction and definition of the Hanbali doctrine, enabling the student to understand the nature of this doctrine and what should be known during its study.
It came in an introduction, six chapters, and a conclusion. The introduction talked about the emergence of schools of jurisprudence and their trends. Then, the first chapter chronicles the Hanbali doctrine since its inception and establishment, through its development and spread, and up to its current state. Then the second chapter came to show the terminology of the doctrine, whether these terms were for the imam in his answers, or for his companions in transmitting the doctrine, its story and weighting in it, or in the allegory to the famous companions. Then the third chapter presented the fundamentals of the doctrine from the legal texts, consensus, sayings of the Companions, analogy, sent interests, blocking pretexts, approval, companionship, custom, and legislated before us. The fourth chapter presented the most famous literature on the doctrine in jurisprudence, fatwas, fundamentals of jurisprudence, jurisprudential rules, the language of jurisprudence, the history of the doctrine and its layers. As for the fifth chapter, it dealt with the multiplicity of narrations in the Hanbali doctrine of thought, and how to indicate what is approved in it. And finally, the sixth chapter, which is concerned with highlighting the most important advantages of the Hanbali doctrine, from the combination of its imam between hadith and jurisprudence, and the uniqueness of the doctrine by saying that the door of ijtihad is not closed, and its distinction in the field of contracts and conditions, and its adoption of the theory of the motive and the consideration of outcomes, and its combination between precaution and facilitation, and its being a realistic doctrine based on fatwas. Then was the conclusion that monitored the results of the study, followed by the references.
The study adopted several approaches to reach its goals, the most important of which are the descriptive approach, the inductive approach, as well as the analytical approach and the deductive approach. It also adhered to the scientific methodology in attributing and documenting, and took into account that the book should be a medium between abbreviation and lengthening, close to receptivity, easy to phrase, and understood by every student and researcher.
