انطلقت الدراسة من واقع تقسيم الدوائر الانتخابية الرئيسية في البلاد بشان انتخاب مجلس النواب، الذي حدد فيه عدد الدوائر الانتخابية وتوزعها على الاقاليم الثلاث وفقا لمعايير جغرافية وسكانية، وتخوض هذه الدراسة في حيثيات هذا الموضوع لمعرفة الأسس الموضوعية لإنشاء الدوائر الانتخابية في ليبيا. ودور الجغرافيا في رسم حدودها المكانية، اعتمدت الدراسة على المنهج الوصفي والاحصائي في تفسير الظاهرة موضوع الدراسة وتوصلت إلى نتائج كان من أهمها الاعتماد الرئيس على السكان في تقسيم الدوائر الانتخابية.

Abstarct
This objective of this is to identify the role of geography in dividing electoral districts across Libya, by analyzing the most important geographical components affecting this division on the one hand, and the most important criteria that have been adopted for this matter, such as population and area, which are considered among the most important reasons for the success and integrity of the electoral process on the other hand.
The study adopted descriptive and statistical approaches to analyze the geographical components affecting the determination of electoral districts.
The study reached several results, the most important of which are primarily population and area, gave more accuracy, fairness and credibility to the division
