يتناول هذا الكتاب استراتيجية حل المشكلات في تدريس الرياضيات، نتيجة للتغيرات والتطورات الكبيرة التي
طرأت في حقل الرياضيات واستخداماتها في العلوم المختلفة اليوم وغزوها لها في جميع فروعها الطبيعية
والاجتماعية، لذلك أوصت التوجهات الحديثة بتبني وسائل وأساليب حديثة في تدريسها والتقليل من إتباع
واعتماد الطرائق التقليدية والعشوائية؛ لخصوصية هذه المادة كعلم تجريدي من خلق وإبداع العقل البشري،
وتهتم من ضمن ما تهتم به بالأفكار والطرائق وأنماط التفكير، وبخاصةٍ في ظل عولمة التربية، و اعتماد
التدريس بالمقاربة بالكفاءات بالجزائر منذ عام 2003، والرياضيات -بكل تأكيد-أداة مهمة للتواصل وحل
المشكلات واتخاذ القرار؛ ومهمة جدا لتنظيم الأفكار وفهم المحيط الذي نعيش فيه، وفهم البيئة المحيطة
والسيطرة عليها؛ وعليه فالرياضيات تنمو وتتطور وتزداد من خلال خبراتنا الحسية في الواقع، ومن خلال
احتياجاتنا ودوافعنا المادية لحل مشكلاتنا وزيادة فهمنا للواقع؛ وأنَّ حل المشكلات من المهارات الأساسية؛
التي تُعنى بدراسة تفاصيل المشكلة، والصعوبات المرافقة لها، بهدف معرفة حلها، مع القدرة على تنفيذه
ومتابعته؛ لضمان عدم تكرار حدوث المشكلة. وتكمن أهميتها بدوام الحاجة لها، في عملياتٍ مستمرةٍ، ولا بد
أنَّها تنمّي معها عدداً من المهارات الأخرى، كمهارة النقد البناء، التي تساهم في البحث بتفاصيل المشكلة
وأبعادها المختلفة، وكذلك اتخاذ القرارات، فهي مهارة مثيرة في النتائج المستقبلية والقرارات المتخذة الآن،
وستساهم حتماً في تحقيق النجاح أو الفشل في المستقبل.
