Background: Atherosclerosis remain as a major health problem occasioning early death in much of the world's people. The ancestry of this diseases related to genetic influences and dietary improperly. The main sourcesof dietary cholesterol are eggs, meat, and milk products, which induced hypercholesterolemia and atherosclerosis insome species of animals.Materials and Methods : Eighteen local domestic malerabbits will be randomly allocated into 3 groups, 6 in eachGroup: Group I (n = 6), control; Group II (n = 6), Rabbit fed1% cholesterol-diet (induced untreated group); Group III (n= 6), 1% cholesterol-diet + Vitamin E (400 mg/kg dailyorally). Blood samples were collected at zero time, after fourweeks and after eight weeks on experimental diets formeasurement of serum triglycerides (TG), total cholesterol(TC), HDL-C and serum IL-6, serum high sensitive CReactive Protein hs-CRP. Results: Compared with the control group, levels of TC,TG, LDL-C, VLDL-C, hs-CRP, IL-6 were increased andHDL-C were decreased in the animals with a high-fat diet (P< 0.05). Histologically all induced-untreated rabbit showedinqrease aortic intima-media thickness (P < 0.05). Vitamin Etreatedgroup showed significant effects on lipid parametersin comparing with induced untreated group (P < 0.05).Vitamin E counteract the change in hs-CRP, IL-6 incompare with induced untreated group (P < 0.05).
