الملخص الانجليزي
Composite structures are a type of material with increasing interest nowadays. Its high strength and Young modulus with respect to its density make this type of materials suitable where both high performance and low weight is required. Currently, Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) has an important role when designing composite structures. This will help to know the behaviour of the structure in different load conditions, and do a better design. Once a good design is considered, a physical prototype is made and tested. This prototype may still need small corrections, so a second prototype may be needed. With this method, costs are saved, as if there were not CAE, the creation and test of different prototypes would be required, making the design of a component more expensive. In the present paper, the design and simulation part of a frontal bumper beam of a car is done. Firstly, the geometry is selected, as well as the load conditions, that will be based on current regulations. Later, the material is chosen based in the desired properties. After that, the simulations for the different load cases are performed and the results are presented. Finally, a design parameter optimization is done to check how the behaviour of the bumper beam changes when a variable changes gradually its value.
