An attempt to find automatically the nearest hospital to rescue injured people of accidents, and tosend emergency medical service and care are demonstrated. Traffic and pedestrian accidentsdata used for the years 2001, 2002 and 2003 was obtained from the civil defense department(Rescue Department) at Irbid city, Jordan. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) themes andtheir associated databases were built using Arcview GIS software. Databases of themescontained types, causes, locations and time of accidents, call time, rescue departure and arrivaltime, required time to move injures to hospital, distance between accident and civil defense,distance from accident to hospital, accidents participants, and hospital name and location.Multiple regression analysis was used to model and predict the relationship between the previousdatabase variables and the time duration required to rescue injuries from accident location to thenearest hospital. Results showed that GIS could be effectively used for this purpose by selectingthe shortest path to the accident and thus rescue lives of injuries to the nearest hospita (PDF) Rescue of Traffic Accident Injuries to Nearest Hospital Using Vector GIS.
