لقد احتوى فجر التاريخ النيجيري على مجموعة من العلماء، عملوا على نشر الإسلام في منطقة الشمالية النيجيرية، عن طريق الدعوة والجهاد لإحياء التعاليم الصحيحة للإسلام ومحاربة البدع والشرك؛ من بينهم الشيخ عبد الله بن فودي الذي عاش أواخر القرن السابع عشر الميلادي أيام أن انطمس المعالم الصحيحة للإسلام وانتشرت العقائد الفاسدة والبدع الموروثة، وكثر الشرك وساد الجهل، وانتهك الحرمات وارتكب المحرمات. فقام جاهدا، غازيا وداعيا إلى الله في سبيل إصلاح المجتمع بهدم دعائم الشرك وترسيخ السنة، فكاتب الله لزرعه البقاء وأنبت نباتا حسنا. وعليه فالهدف التعريف بشخصية هذا العالم الجليل مع بيان إسهاماته التي كان لها دورا إيجابيا في استرجاع الناس إلى الدين الصحيح. وقد اعتمد البحث في التحليل والتفسير على المنهج الوصفي الذي يعتني بوصف الظواهر الأمور المنقولة وتحليلها كما هي على أرض الواقع. وتوصل إلى أن لعبد الله بن فودي -الأديب المفسر- في مطلع القرن الثامن عشر أثر ملموس تجاه إصلاح مجتمعه دينيا وتربويا، فكريا وسياسا، و ما زالت هذه الآثار باقية و عالقة بالأذهان طوال قرن متكامل.. .

The early Nigerian history embodied set of Islamic scholars, worked on spreading Isalm in the northern region, via preaching and Jihad for the sake of installing the true Islamic teachings, fighting innovations and Polytheisms. Among them Abdullahi bn Fodi that lived in the late 1970s, during the time whereby Islamic teachings were on the verge of expungement, perverted ideologies spread, inherited innovations embraced, ignorance dominated, sacredness violated and prohibitions perpetrated. He held to the Quran tightly as a tool for reforming society and, so Allah decreed a longlasting to his planting and it yielded good vegetation. The objective of this study is to identify the personality of Abdullahi bn fodi and his contributions that had a great influence on the restoration and reformation of the true Islamic religion. The study adopts a descriptive approach in presenting and analysing the topic’s chapters. The study asserted that Abdullahi bin fodi had a noticeable impact in the 18th century towards the reformation of his society religiously and educationally, intellectually and politically, which remained and lasted in minds for a century.
