الفونيمات فوق التركيبية (الثانوية) ملامح صوتية تُصاحِب الكلمات المتَّصِلة أو الجُمل ، فتؤدّي وظيفةً دلالية ، ومن أهم هذه الملامح : التنغيم ، فقد عُدَّ من الملامح أو الظواهر الصوتية المهمة التي تُساعد في تحديد المعنى ، ويرصد هذا البحث تعريفاً لهذا الفونيم ( التنغيم )، و صُوَره، ووظيفته في لغتنا العربية ، ويبيّن أثره في توجيه الدلالة عند اْلفَرَّاء في كتابه (مَعانِي القرآن ) ، وكيف اتخذه الفرّاءُ أسلوباً أو منهجاً صوتياً لتفسير الكثير من المسائل النحوية ، ولبيان الدلالات المختلفة للبنية التركيبية الواحدة من خلال تنوّع أنماطها التنغيمية وطريقة أدائها .

: Suprasegmental phonemes (secondary) are phonetic features that accompany connected words or sentences ,performing a semantic function .Among the most important of these features is intonation, which has been considered one of the important phonetic features or phenomena that help in determining meaning .This research provides a definition of this phoneme (intonation) ,its forms, and its function in our Arabic language. It also shows its effect on guiding meaning in Al-Farra`s book (Meanings of the Qur`an), and how Al-Farra adopted it as a phonetic style or method to interpret many grammatical issues and to clarify the different meanings of the same syntactic structure through the diversity of its intonational patterns and the method of its performance.
