من أهم العبادات القلبية عبادة التوكل على الله عز وجل، وهو أعلى مقامات توحيد الله جل وعلا، والمسلم إذا عرف ربه معرفة صحيحة بأسمائه وصفاته فإن ذلك يورث في نفسه ثقة عظيمة بالله عز وجل، فيركن إليه العبد، ويفوِّض أمره إليه، ويعلِّق قلبه به وحده دون سواه؛ لأن الله سبحانه وحده الذي يملك النفع والضر، والعطاء والمنع، والكفاية والنصر، وبهذا يجتمع شعث القلب، وتسكن النفس، ويطمئن العبد، ويستريح من ألوان المعاناة التي تحصلُ لغير المتوكلين على الله عز وجل، فهو بحاجة إلى الله عز وجل في كل لحظة، فالتوكل اعتماد القلب على الله سبحانه واستناده إليه وسكونه إليه، وتفويض الأمور كلها إليه سبحانه القادر على كل شيء القوي الخالق العظيم، وقطع علائق القلب بغير الله عز وجل.
