موضوع الدراسة يدور حول الاقتصاد المخطط، والاستراتيجية العكسية، والسياسات المالية والنقدية، وأسعار الصرف، ومسألة دعم المستهلكين للتضخم؛ أزمات الديون الخارجية؛ المفاوضات بين مصر والمؤسسات الدولية المانحة للدعم المالي والخصخصة. وأخيرا التناسب بين دخل الفرد ودراسة أسباب الفقر.
تجيب هذه الدراسة على هذه الأسئلة وأكثر: (ما هي السمات الهيكلية طويلة المدى للاقتصاد المصري؟ وما هي العوامل التي سهلت أو أعاقت أداءه؟)
ويرى البعض أن الإجابة على هذين السؤالين تكمن في التركيز على الاستثمار المباشر في القطاعين الخاص والعام محلياً ودولياً.
ولكننا لن نكتشف ذلك إلا من خلال دراسة أهم القرارات الاقتصادية التي أثرت على الاقتصاد المصري منذ عام 1952 والعوامل السياسية التي تقف وراءها.
ويختتم التحليل بدراسة الإصلاحات المؤسسية واستراتيجيات التنمية لمعالجة المشاكل الهيكلية للاقتصاد المصري وإرساء الأساس للتنمية السريعة والمستدامة.

This study answers these questions and more: (What are the long-term structural features of the Egyptian economy? What are the factors that facilitated or hindered its performance?)
Some believe that the answer on these two questions is to focus on direct investment in both the private and public sectors, both locally and internationally
However, we will discover this only by studying the most important economic decisions that have affected the Egyptian economy since 1952 and the political factors behind them.
The analysis concludes by examining institutional reforms and development strategies to address the structural problems of the Egyptian economy and lay the foundation for rapid and sustainable development.
