الملخص الانجليزي
Pedestrian movement in built environment forms a clear shape of using the nature of that environment and the human behaviour achieved by the design of its structure. In order to understand and analyse pedestrian behaviour at the very fine scale, while moving in open spaces, simulation modelling becomes an essential tool. The aim of this paper is to study the impacts of built environment on pedestrian behaviour to understand the way which people walk in University Campuses. Also setting out simulation model is another aim of the study that show how physical variables affect pedestrian behaviour to set out criteria for designing walkable campuses. On one hand, through using video recording camera, the study observed pedestrian walking from the gates of university campus to their teaching buildings. Then recorded data transformed in to numerical values such speed, delay and walking type. On the other hand, all data about the designed campuses were collected such as walkway length, width, height, number of intersections with pedestrian walkways. Then, the study through using multiple regression model, designed mathematical simulation models to test the environmental impacts on walking behaviour. Finally, the study has showed the impacts of the built environment on pedestrian behaviour.
