- Globally, in the form of Residential Cities urban prices are rising at their hardest rate since the beginning of the 2000s. This rate is based on the extent to which families are satisfied with the neighbourhood environment, which remains the fundamental issue of family life, whom spend most of their time in the neighbourhood that influences their social life. Practically there is an essential relationship between the amount of open space inside any residential area and the health-related lifestyle, hence the satisfaction of the families Particularly in Kurdistan region of Iraq, small residential communities increased as investment projects after 2003. Although these projects were designed and built by qualifies companies, the performance are hardly evaluated. The main question of the research will be, how far did recently residential projects take the urban housing standard of the ministry of construction of Iraq (especially into the open area ratio) into consideration? In this research three examples of an existing urban housing projects in Sulaimani city in Iraq was appraised, namely: Garden City project, Saib City project, and Darwaza City project, all these projects were built, and occupied after 2008. The focus of this paper will be on the community open spaces required by the Ministry of Construction and demand by inhabitants of the urban projects depend on a hypothesis stated that there is a significant ignorance of such criteria in the new urban residential projects. The research adopted a methodology depended on a direct evaluation of these occupied projects, and the quality of those projects were determined throw two aspects that play significant role in the family’s satisfaction, the first was the ratio of each type of the open area facility in the project, and the second was, the maximum access distance from dwellings to each type of these open spaces.
