- The design of inductive energy transfer systems have to date depended on the use of one frequency source for exciting the system which makes it not scalable and limited to very short ranges. This paper reports on a study of an innovative technique for wide area inductive energy transfer systems using multiple frequency sources. A Class-E power amplifier is designed and implemented to produce multiple frequency signals in a multi-directional wireless power transfer system transmitter. The use of Class-E amplifier improves the power-source signal and eliminates the mix of signals modulated for RF systems. The designed system resonates at several frequencies. These resonant frequencies can be any values of interest depending on the receiver device to gain higher power transfer values. Three cases of the tuned multiple frequency source are examined theoretically and experimentally. We introduce a transmitter frequency splitting (frequency allocation) to the system in order to transmit multiple signals with different frequencies. This approach is the main concept of this paper. It solves the cross coupling between transceivers as well as reduce the number of frequency splitting by strong coupling.
