تعد جريمة غسيل الاموال من التعابير التي تم تداولها في المحافل المحلية والاقليمية والدولية المهتمة بالجرائم الاقتصادية التي تمس امن الدولة القومي، وغالبا ما تكون هذه الجريمة خارج حدود نطاق القوانين المناهضة، والتي كانت تجرمها داخل الحدود الاقليمية والتي تسري عليها هذه القوانين، اذ ترتبط ظاهرة غسيل الاموال بالفساد المالي والاداري والسياسي، وجرائم المخدرات والخطف وتهريب الاثار والتي تعد مصادر التمويل واستمرارها وديمومتها، وذلك بتهريب هذه الاموال الى الخارج للقيام بغسلها اي اضفاء الصفة الشرعية عليها، او ايداعها في البنوك الاجنبية او محلية في حسابات وهمية غير معروفة، ومن ثم استخدام هذه الاموال في صورة مقتنيات عينية او عقارات او ذهب او اوراق مالية وغيرها.
