- Due to the revolution of information in education, there is a need to introduce a teaching method which will enhance students need. Collaborative learning is a technique of teaching in which students must work together to reach their goal. Students can share strength and develop their weaker skills, and they can improve their interpersonal skills. The purpose of this study is to develop a model of the method of teaching science in Qatar schools and to be evaluated whether teaching cooperative learning or competitive learning affects its student’s achievement, motivation, and creative thinking by using the PROMETHEE, a Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) method. The PROMETHEE involves several steps which include the setting of evaluation criteria and their weights, and evaluation of the collaborative learning technique as compared to the traditional cognitive learning technique. An experiment was conducted in a secondary school in Qatar in investigating students’ attitude towards Chemistry subject. The overall results show that students and teachers preferred collaborative learning more than traditional cognitive learning. This suggests that the teachers in Qatar schools should be ready to change and do more planning in order to move towards a more collaboration learning place.
