The bender element become one of the most effective geophysical tools in the laboratory tests in order to measure some physical properties of soil. However, the limitation of bender element procedure can retardation of use this tool or even provide pseudo data. In this research, one of this limitation are tested. The bender element test under alignment for different horizontal distance from zero point (vertical axis) starting from 0 through 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100, 110 mm horizontal distance for two samples with 63.17 mm and 91.51 mm thickness. The travel time calculated from five different methods visually, first peak-to-peak, maximum peak to maximum peak, CCexcel (cross-correlation by using excel) and CCGDS (cross-correlation from software of Geotechnical Digital Systems Company for supplying geotechnical instruments). The tests indicate at zone above 50% of ratio of horizontal distance to thickness gave uncertain results. Moreover, the damping give specific slope level for each zone, gentle slope in the damping in the first zone (from 0 to 50%) and steeply slope within second zone (above 50%).
