Abstract: In recent years, Two Dimensions (2D) video has
been quite developed, in many aspects particularly in their
display device, the quality of their content, and enter the
interactive element with the end user. All these enhancements
have shifted the attention from 2D to Three Dimensions (3D)
video. A novel feature called depth is added to the 2D video given
it better immersive experiences to viewers than normal 2D video.
Stereoscopy term refers to two classical 2D videos that are
captured and delivered simultaneously to the users. This
procedure is considered the first generation of 3D video. A 3D
video has been applied in many areas that covered a wide range
of personal and social activities, where it is obtainable in
Television (TV), cinemas, mobile phones, games, laptops,
Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs), etc. Art Production of the 3D
video is difficult, where many different skills are required
whether technical, creative, and psychological. The perception
and display capabilities are taken into account also. In this
paper, a general overview of the 3D video processing steps are
introduced presenting its content creation techniques,
representation methods, coding techniques, rendering
procedures, and finally display devices. All these steps are
discussed in this paper in more details. In addition to a simple
comparison between imaging techniques is presented where the
final Three Dimensions video is produced for the end users.
