‏‏‏‏‏Dr. Saeed al-Qumairi is a highly experienced professional in academia and practice, specializing in generative linguistics and Arabic dialectology, particularly the endangered Modern South Arabian languages (MSAL); Mehri, Soḳoṭri, Hobyūt, Sheḥri, Ḥarsusi and Bațḥari. He has a strong educational foundation with PhD in Applied linguistics, MA of Linguistics, BSc in English Education and Arts, and two credentials as projects in language documentation and ecopoetry in the Mehri language. He is an international research fellow at the University of Leeds, United Kingdom. As an educator, Dr. al-Qumairi has taught a wide range of linguistic subjects in Hadhramaut University and Mahrah University. They are English skills, Syntax, Morphology, Semiotics, structure of English, English for specific purposes, and introduction to Semitics. He is the founder and the director of Mehri language centre, currently affiliated to Mahrah University in Yemen. With a strong research focus, al-Qumairi has contributed to the field through the publication of several papers and book chapters on various aspects of Mehri and Arabic, including work on syntax, communicative gesture, narrative texts, ecopoetics and children’s rhymes. His current research interest revolves around the Sustainable development and resilience through the documentation and revitalization of ecopoetics in al-Mahrah, Yemen. In addition to his scholarly pursuits, Dr. al-Qumairi actively engages in participating in UNESCO workshops, presenting papers in international conferences, and consultations in linguistic issues of MSALs.
