Revenue management is the practice of maximizing a company’s revenues while selling the same amount
of products or services. It employs a mix of pricing strategies and systems to maximize yield. Industries that
have products or services that expire -- such as hotel rooms, banquet halls and meeting rooms in the hotel
industry and airplane seats in the airline industry -- utilize the term “revenue management” most often.
Revenue management is the scientific way of dynamically managing prices, inventories, and capacities
of perishable services. The general principles of revenue management are widely applicable although
each particular application needs to carefully address the requirements of a specific industry. Revenue
management is a proven technique that helps service industries to maximize their revenues.
Knowing the importance of the topic, and having departments of management studies and hospitality
management at the Institutes, AIMS Institute of Higher Education in association with Hotelschool The
Hague, Netherlands organised an international conference on “Emerging trends in Revenue management in
service Industry “on 12th and 13th February 2016 at AIMS auditorium, Peenya, Bangalore.
The main objective of this conference is to gain an insight into the new trends and practices in revenue
management practiced in the service sector globally. It also aims at providing a common platform for
professionals from the Hospitality, Tourism, Business Management, Information Technology, Telecom,
Banking, Healthcare and Education sectors to interact and deliberate on various concepts and issues related
to revenue management with faculty and students participating from leading educational Institutions in
India and abroad.
The conference went on well as per the pre planned programme with four technical sessions and paper
presentations. Eminent people from within the country and outside have delivered valuable speeches,
interacted with audience and made the conference a fruitful one.
In this context, AIMS Publications came forward to publish the proceedings of the conference along with
the research papers presented in the conference. Hope this type of attempt help the people who are interested
