تلعب حماية براءة الاختراع دورا بارزا في دعم الإبداع والبحث والتطوير ،بحيث يشعر المخترعين بان اختراعاتهم محمية بموجب هذه القوانين التي تنظم الملكية الصناعية بصفة عامة وبراءة الاختراع بصفة خاصة ،كما أن العائدات المالية تكون محفوظة وعليه المطلوب منهم فقط التركيز على البحث وتطوير القدرات الصناعية .وعليه سوف نحاول أن نبين مدى تأثير الحماية القانونية المفروضة على دعم البحث العلمي وتطوره .
