الملخص العربي
The objectives of this study are to determine the effect of simulated body fluid (SBF) exposure on the locally opaque dental porcelain and their resistance to corrosion before it can be applied for the dental applications. This formula has been produced at the School of Materials and Mineral Resources Engineering. Three tests were applied to determine the environmental properties. These tests include; compression test, absorption of SBF and chemical solubility. For compression test performed after immersed in simulated body fluid, samples showed decrease in the values initially after 1 day, and then increases steadily with time up to 14 days immersion. The values decreased again between up to 28 days. The absorption of simulated body fluid test shows that no change in the weight and no obvious changes when observed under SEM after immersed in SBF at 37°C for certain time. Opaque dental porcelain showed good resistance to corrosion after reflux in 4 % acetic acid for 16 hours.
