Rahmah is a Professor of Arabic Literature at the Department of Arabic Language and Literature, KIRKHS, IIUM. She obtained her Bachelor Degree with Honours from Al Azhar Univ. Egypt, Masters from Univ. of Jordan and Ph.D from SOAS, Univ. of London. She sits on a number of reputable international refereed journal editorial boards. She has successfully completed 35 International and national research projects from 2005 to 2019, and is the recipient of 9 international grants from Zakirat Oman, the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT), USA, and Hayrat Foundation, collectively. 20 postgraduate students have graduated under her supervision. She has published widely in the areas of literary studies; 24 books and over 100 peer reviewed articles, chapters in books and proceedings. She is also a recipient of 22 international and national research awards; including Outstanding E-Learning Mobile Apps Award at the International University Carnival on E-Learning 2018 (IUCEL), Gold Award at the 2018 Invention, Innovation and Design on E-Learning (IIDEL), Professional Special Award and Gold Award at the International Research Invention Solution Exposition (IRIISE 2018), EUREKA 2018, Al-Khawarizmi Award and Gold Award at 8th Exposition on Islamic Innovation (i-INOVA 2018), Outstanding Researcher Award (Islamic Knowledge), IIUM Quality Day 2012, 2011 Outstanding Academic Scholar (Anugerah Tokoh Akademik) at Sambutan 100 tahun Madrasah Al Attas, Johor Bahru, and 2002- Hadiah Sastera Perdana Malaysia (Premier Literature Award) 2000/ 2001, DBP. She has held a number of academic administrative posts in IIUM and also the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia; Director of Education Malaysia Division, MoHE: April 2019- May 2020; Deputy Rector for Research and Innovation, IIUM: July 2017- Aug 2018; Dean of Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (KIRKHS), IIUM: July 2016- July 2017; Director for Office of Institutional and Academic Quality Management, IIUM: 2016; Deputy Dean of Corporate Strategy and Quality Assurance, IIUM: 2012-2014; Deputy Dean for Postgraduate Studies, KIRKHS, IIUM: 2010-2012. She played an instrumental role in the IIUM Transformation Plan and IIUM Research and Innovation landscape from 2016- 2018.
