ملخص Eliya Henin is a Senior Design ٍStructural Design Engineer at Ebmeier Engineering, LLC. Also he is an Assistant Professor at Assiut University (Civil Engineering Department)-Egypt. He has a B.Sc. (with honors) and M.Sc. degrees in Civil Engineering from Assiut University in 2001 and 2006 respectively. He earned his doctorate degree in Construction Engineering from University of Nebraska – Lincoln in 2012. His teaching interests include design and construction of reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, eel structures, and bridges design. Henin has several years of consulting experience in the analysis and design of both concrete and steel structures. He is currently a registered Professional Civil Engineer (P.E) and Professional Structural Engineer (S.E) in multi-states. His research interests include design and construction of reinforced and prestressed concrete structures. Henin published several articles in scholar journals and international conferences.

• Determination of Bond-Dependent Coefficient of Fiber-Reinforced Polymer (FRP) bars The average kb value of the tested GFRP bars was found to be 0.83 In the last few decades, tremendous research has been carried out on glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) bars as an alternative to steel reinforcement in concrete structures. GFRP bars have several advantages over reinforcing steel bars, such as corrosion resistance, high strength, lightweight, and low thermal conductivity. However, the low modulus of elasticity of GFRP bars, may result in larger deflections and wider and deeper cracks in flexural concrete members than those reinforced with convention steel bars. Thus, the design of GFRP reinforced concrete members may be controlled by the serviceability limit state (cracking and deflection) rather than the strength limit state. Determining the Bond-Dependent Coefficient of Basalt FiberReinforced Polymer (BFRP) Bars The objective of this investigation is to experimentally determine the bond-dependent coefficient (kb) of Basalt Fiber Reinforced Polymer (BFRP) bars according to the ACI 440K-subcommittee procedures proposed by Benmokrane, B in 2010. This coefficient is used to calculate the crack width based on the degree of bond between Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) bars and surrounding concrete. Different bar surface deformations and coatings could result in significantly different kb. • Effect of NU-Tie Embedment on the Design of Precast Concrete Sandwich Panels, Nebraska University NU-Tie is a structurally and thermally efficient shear connector for precast concrete sandwich panels (PCSP) that links the two wythes of concrete through the insulation layer. This product was originally developed by researchers at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) and patented in August 15, 1995 (US Patent# 5440845). NU-ties are made of glass fiber-reinforced polymer (GFRP) due to its excellent mechanical properties and high thermal resistance. Load Rating of Complex Bridges The objective of this project is to develop the procedures and models necessary for the load rating of tied-arch bridges, namely Ravenna and Columbus Viaducts. This includes developing refined analytical models of these structures and performing rating factor (RF) calculations in accordance to the latest Load and Resistance Factored Rating (LRFR) specifications. Twodimensional and three-dimensional computer models were developed for each structure and RF calculations were performed for the primary structural components (i.e. arch, tie, hanger, and floor beam). RFs were calculated assuming various percentages of section loss and using the most common legal and permit loads in the state of Nebraska in addition to AASHTO LRFD live loads. Continuous Shallow Hollow-Core Floor System Precast floor systems provide a rapidly constructed solution to multi-story buildings that is economical, high quality, fire-resistant, and with excellent deflection and vibration characteristics. Conventional precast concrete floor system cannot compete with cast-inplace post tensioning flat slab floor systems when high span-to-depth ratio and flat soffit are required. This is due to the significant depth of standard precast beams, and use of column corbels and beam ledges. This research presents the development of a new precast concrete floor system that eliminates the limitations of conventional precast floor system and provides a competitive precast alternative to cast-in-place flat slab floor systems. The main features of the proposed system are: span-to-depth ratio of 30, and flat soffit (no ledges or corbels), and adequate resistance to lateral loads, in addition to economy, consistency with prevailing erection techniques, and speed of construction. The new system is a total precast concrete floor system that consists of continuous columns, prestressed rectangular beams, prestressed hollow-core planks, and cast-in-place composite topping. Fully insulated precast sandwich panels that are alternative to hollowcore planks are also proposed for thermally efficient floor applications. • Bars-Splice for Precast Concrete Construction Over the last few decades, the use of precast concrete components have been significantly increasing in building and bridge construction due to their quality, durability, and speed of construction. Precast components need to be fully connected to ensure the integrity, serviceability, and durability of the completed structure. Several proprietary grout-filled sleeves are currently being used to splice reinforcing bars of the adjacent precast components. These sleeves require very tight tolerances in precast production to ensure the alignment of the spliced bars, which usually results in using larger and more costly sleeves than needed. The objective of this paper is to introduce a non-proprietary bar splice sleeve that accommodates current production tolerances in addition to being economical and easy to produce. The design method of the proposed splice sleeve and the analytical investigation conducted using FE analysis are discussed. The experimental investigation conducted using two alternatives of the proposed bar splice sleeve is presented. Eighteen specimens for splicing #8 and #9 bars were tested using different sleeve lengths. Test results indicated that the proposed bar splice sleeve have adequate capacity to fully develop reinforcing bars while being simpler to use and more economical than current proprietary splice sleeves. أخرى 01/01/2018 01/01/2018
• Design and Construction of Precast Prestressed Flat Soffit Shallow Floor System It is a key economic criterion for multistory residential and office buildings to have a shallow floor that minimizes floor height and saves in the cost of architectural, mechanical, and electrical systems. This paper presents the development of a new precast concrete floor system that eliminates the need for column corbels and beam ledges while being shallow. The proposed system can achieve a span-to-depth ratio of 30 and flat soffit while being consistent with prevailing erection techniques.
