جاء البحث ليوضح النشاط الملاحي لقطر خلال المدة 1766-1914 ، واتخذت تلك المدة تحديدا لكون عام 1766 يعد العام الذي ظهرت فيه مدينة الزبارة الى الازدهار بعد دخول ال خليفة اليها وتحريكهم النشاط الملاحي فيها. وتوقف البحث في عام 1914 بسبب اندلاع الحرب العلمية الاولى التي كانت لها انعكاسات سلبية على الحركة الملاحية في قطر بشكل خاص والخليج العربي بشكل عام ، وتناول البحث الخصائص الملاحية لقطر و صفاتها الطبيعية و من ثم الاسباب والعوامل التي ادت الى قيام النشاط الملاحي فيها ، لاسيما و انها منطقة مشهورة بتلك المهنة منذ القدم ، وكذلك التعرف على مظاهر ذلك النشاط كالغوص بحثا عن اللؤلؤ وصيد الاسماك والتجارة وتطرق البحث ايضا الى اعداد السفن العاملة في ذلك النشاط الذي تسبب في ازدهار قطر اقتصاديا ثم تعرضها بسبب ذلك للصراع الدولي الذي دار في منطقة الخليج العربي ، الامر الذي كانت له نتائج مؤثرة على نشاطها الملاحي مع بداية الحرب العالمية الاولى التي توقف عندها موضوع البحث.

The research came to explain the maritime activity of Qatar during the period 1766-1914, and took that period precisely because the year 1766 is the year in which the city of Zubarah appeared to prosperity after the entry of the Khalifa and moving them navigation activity. The research stopped in 1914 because of the outbreak of the first scientific war, which had negative repercussions on the navigation movement in Qatar in particular and the Arabian Gulf in general, and the study discussed the characteristics of the navigation of Qatar and its natural characteristics and then the reasons and factors that led to the activity of navigation, The research also dealt with the number of vessels operating in the activity that caused the economic prosperity of Qatar and then exposed it because of the international conflict that took place in the Gulf region, The Which had impressive results on its navigational activities at the beginning of the First World War, when the subject of the research was stopped.
