-{ims of the study: To determine the frequency of bacterial t1'pe determine the percentage of patients with UTI according to susceptibility of male and female to difl'erent microorganism. Patients and Methods: A total of 100 patient in infants and ).oung children having signs and symptoms of urinary tract infection who were admitted to Central Teaching Hospital of Pediatric in Baghdad City from l't April till the 30 'h of May 2010. Midstream urine (MSU) samples were collected from pafients, suprapubic or cleancatch urine collection use of bag By general urine examination and culturing samples on MacConkey's and Blood agar) the bacterial grou'th rr-as diagnosed according to morphological, physiological and biochemical characters (Api 20 E). Results: The study included (100) of children infection was diagnosed in 29 (14 male and 15 female) who had complaints UTI (53 male and 47 female) from the birth to 12 years old age. Conclusions: Male children with UTI showed high rate within the age group (0-3), while in the other age groups the majority of the infected children were females and Escherichia coli had the first rank of isolation.
