عرف الانسان أهمية اللغة ومكانتها في حياته منذ القدم، فراح يجمعها ويبحث في ألفاظها ومعانيها، حتى أفرد لها علما قائما بذاته يدرسها ويحللها ويبيّن أسرارها.
في النصف الثاني من القرن العشرين وبعد أن كان يُنظر إلى الجملة على أنها الوحدة الغوية الأكبر في اللغة، تفرّع عن علم اللغة ، علم حديث يرى أن هناك وحدة أكبر من الجملة يمكن اعتمادها في دراسة اللغة، هي النص، حيث رأى رواد هذا العلم أن النص ليس مجرد تشكيلة جمل، بل هو وحدة تجمع بين أجزائها ومكوناتها علاقات تتجاوز تلك التي تضمها الجملة الواحدة.
لذلك رأينا أن نسلط الضوء في هذا البحث على المفاهيم الاأساسية لعلم لغة النص أو لسانيات النص، ونتطرق إلى المعايير النصية التي تميز النص عن غيره من الملفوظات.

In the second half of the twentieth century, after the sentence was seen as the largest linguistic unit in the language, it was a branch of language science, a modern science that saw that there was a larger unit of sentence that could be adopted in the study of language, the text. The pioneers of this science saw that the text is not just a collection of sentences, but a unit that combines its parts and components with relationships beyond those included in the one sentence. We have therefore seen that in this research we should highlight the basic concepts of text language science or text graphics, and we look at the textual criteria that distinguish the text from other files.
