هدف البحث إلى بيان إلى إبراز العلاقة بين تمويل التعليم الجامعي ودوره في تلبية متطلبات التنمية المستدامة، وذلك من خلال: تشخيص واقع تمويل التعليم الجامعي في مصر، والوقوف على مفهوم التنمية المستدامة وخصائصها ومتطلبات تحقيقها، وتحديد أدوار التعليم الجامعي لتحقيق التنمية المستدامة، وتحديد إنعكاسات تمويل التعليم الجامعي في مصر على قيامه بأدواره تجاه تحقيق التنمية المستدامة. واستخدم البحث المنهج الوصفي.
وتوصل البحث إلى عدة نتائج منها: تعانى الجامعات المصرية على مستويات متعددة من اختلالات مالية؛ ففى الجامعات الحكومية لا يوجد تكافؤ بين إيرادتها الذاتية، وما توفره لها الحكومة من دعم مالي، وبين متطلباتها من الإنفاق على العملية التعليمية والبحثية فى ظل مستوى مرغوب من جودة الأداء، وتمثل هذه الفجوة المالية عائقًا رئيسًا فى طريق تحقيق أهداف التطوير والتحديث في العملية التعليمية بوجه خاص، وأهداف التنمية المستدامة بوجه عام، كما يتطلب تحقيق التنمية المستدامة تطوير التعليم الجامعي كمًا وكيفًا، وهذا يحتاج إلى تطوير مستوى الطالب الجامعي، وتخصيص اعتمادات مالية إضافية للجامعات، ومراجعة وتحديث مناهج التعليم الجامعي، والحد من المحاضرات التلقينية، ووضع البحث العلمي في أولويات سلم الإنفاق الحكومي العام.

The aim of the current research is to highlight the relationship of financing university education with its role in meeting the requirements of sustainable development. This aim comes true through diagnosing the reality of financing university education in Egypt, understanding the concept of sustainable development, its characteristics & requirements of university education in Egypt to play its role towards achieving sustainable development. The research used the descriptive approach.
The research comes to some important results such as: in the government universities, there is no equivalence between their own income, the government's financial support & their requirements for spending on the educational & research process under a desired level of quality of performance. In addition to that, the financial gap represents a major obstacle to the achievement of the goals of development, modernization in the educational process in particular & the goals of sustainable development in general. Also, the achievement of sustainable development requires the development of university education in quantity and quality. Furthermore, there is an additional financial data for universities, reviewing & updating of university education curricula, reducing lectures pedagogic & the development of scientific research in the priorities of the interests of the general government spending.
