يعتبر القرآن الكريم أهم مصادر المعرفة التي عرفها تأريخ الإنسانية، حيث تحدث هذا الكتاب العزيز عن مختلف أبواب المعرفة، سواء الاقتصادية أم الاجتماعية أم السياسية أم غيرها، ومن أبواب المعرفة التي حظيت باهتمام القرآن الكريم الجانب الحضاري للأمم والشعوب، وتجد ذلك واضحاً من خلال حديثه عن السنن الإلهية، وعن الأمم الماضية، حيث حوى آيات تحدثت عن تلك السنن، وتأثيرها على سير الأمم والمجتمعات والأفراد، وعزز ذلك ببعض المصاديق لأمم عملت بها تلك السنن، فأثرت فيها إما سلباً أو ايجاباً، كما في حضارة عاد أو ثمود أو الحضارة الفرعونية أو الحضارة السبئية، قال : (أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِعَادٍ * إِرَمَ ذَاتِ الْعِمَادِ* الَّتِي لَمْ يُخْلَقْ مِثْلُهَا فِي الْبِلادِ * وَثَمُودَ الَّذِينَ جَابُوا الصَّخْرَ بِالْوَادِ * وَفِرْعَوْنَ ذِي الْأَوْتَادِ * الَّذِينَ طَغَوْا فِي الْبِلادِ * فَأَكْثَرُوا فِيهَا الْفَسَادَ * فَصَبَّ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّكَ سَوْطَ عَذَابٍ * إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَبِالْمِرْصَادِ) (الفجر: 6-14).
وقد تحدث القرآن الكريم عن عوامل ازدهار الحضارات واستمرارها وبقائها في الكثير من آياته، ويستطيع الإنسان الباحث في كتاب الله أن يقف على تلك العوامل بتفاصيلها.
وإنّ أخطر ما يمكن أن يصيب أمّة من الأمم هو أن تفقد هويّتها الحضاريّة، فالهويّة الحضاريّة هي أثمن ما يمتلكه أيُّ مجتمع من المجتمعات، وقد تصاب المجتمعات بالعديد من أنواع الكوارث الّتي تقضّ مضجعها وتؤرِّق اطمئنانها وتجلب لها المعاناة، إلاّ أنّ المجتمع المدرِك لهويته وشخصيَّتِه الحضاريّة من شأنه أن يواجه تلك الكوارث الّتي تستفزُّه وتدعوه إلى المواجهة ما دامت الحضارة الّتي ينتمي إليها تملك من المقوِّمات والحلول ما يكفي لمواجهة أعباء الحياة بشتّى أشكالها، ولكنَّ تلك الأزمات والكوارث حين تلمّ بمجتمع غافل عن ذاته وهوّيته وشخصيّته ومقوِّمات وجوده، فإنّ من شأنها أن تفتك به الواحدة تلو الأخرى حتّى ترديه صريعاً، وربّما تودي به إلى الزوال من خارطة الحضارات البشريّة.

The Holy Quran has talked about the factors of the prosperity, continuity and survival of civilizations in many of its verses, and the person who is searching in the Book of God can stand on these factors in detail.
The most dangerous thing that can befall a nation is that it lose its civilizational identity. A civilized identity is the most valuable thing any society possesses. Societies may be afflicted with many types of disasters that destroy their beds, disturb their reassurance and bring them suffering, but the society is aware of its identity and civilization personality. He would face those catastrophes that provoke him and invite him to confront as long as the civilization to which he belongs possesses the ingredients and solutions sufficient to face the burdens of life in all its forms, but those crises and disasters, when they become aware of a society that is unaware of its own identity, personality, and determinants of its existence, would destroy one One after the other until it deteriorates quickly, and it may lead to it disappearing from the map of human civilizations.
