ظاهرة شغب الشباب من الظواهر الاجتماعية والأمنية التي تشكل خطراً على المجتمعات، ومن هذا المنطلق رأى الباحث أهمية تناول دراسة أسباب ظاهرة شغب الشباب التي حدثت في الخبر من المنطقة الشرقية، بهدف التعرف على الأسباب، وكذلك الأساليب الوقائية التي يمكن أن تحمي أو تخفف من مظاهر الشغب بين الشباب السعودي. وقد أعدت استبانة وبعد التأكد من صدقها وثباتها، وزعت على عينة عشوائية من الذكور بلغت 3700 شابا من مختلف مدن ومحافظات المنطقة الشرقية.
وقد أوضحت النتائج أن أسباب الشغب تتلخص في الأبعاد التالية وهي على التوالي، العامل الاقتصادي والعامل الديني والعامل الصحي الترويحي والعامل الاجتماعي والعامل الأسري. كما أكدت نتائج الدراسة أنه لا توجد فروق إحصائية تذكر حول أبعاد أسباب الشغب لدى الشباب تبعا للمدينة، وفئات المجتمع (باستثناء العامل الاقتصادي لصالح غير العاملين). وحول أهمية الوسائل الوقائية فقد حققت جميع العبارات المقترحة متوسطات حسابية مرتفعة. ويوصي الباحث بإجراء المزيد من الدراسات حول ظاهرة الشغب لدى الشباب ، وفق متغيرات أخرى للتعرف عليها والتعامل معها بواقعية.

The phenomenon of rioting among youth is a social and security problem which constitute a threatening danger to societies. The present study aimed to identify the underlying causes of rioting in Khobar and the preventive measures that can be taken to stop the manifestations of unrest among youth in future. Questionnaires, whose validity and reliability were properly confirmed, were distributed among randomly-chosen 3700 youth from all the Eastern Province cities.
The results revealed that the causes of rioting among Saudi youth are due to many factors like economic, religious, health, recreational, social and familial. The results also showed that there was no significant difference in the dimensions of the causes of unrest among the youth in respect to the city, community or group, with the exception of the economic factor showing a tilt towards the unemployed. Regarding the importance of preventive measures and strategies to deal with these problems, many possibilities were presented to the participants who responded favorably to such propositions. More research in this phenomenon is highly needed, taking into consideration other variables in order to identify them more realistically so as to take the proper preventive measures to deal with this phenomenon.
