Scientific publishing is one of the most important activities that support the scientific research movement in academia through publishing the results of its research in many channels, including scientific periodicals, where universities issue a number of scientific periodicals through their colleges and institutes and research centers. In order to develop the university and raising its scientific status, these periodicals seek to obtain a world ranking among the periodicals, and this is determined in light of the fast and rapid circulation, availability in the global databases. Therefore, it has become a must on Arab universities to give more considration to include their periodicals in global databases. Hence, this requires reconsidering the publishing standards in the local Arab scientific periodicals; many of them may not be internationally accredited and have no value beyond the borders of the Arab world. Most Arab scientific periodicals suffer from global isolation.
Therefore, the problem of this study is exploring the extent to which the databases of international reference citations cover the Arab scientific periodicals, in particular, the Arab universities' periodicals, their characteristics in terms of the objective characteristics, publication authorities, the time coverage and the extent of their continuity
