The aim of this book is to study the relationship between R&D cooperation and economic growth. Our objective is to present the fundamental role of cooperation in R&D and to reveal to what extent technological cooperation can be considered as a determining factor of growth? We have analyzed technological cooperation as a means of internalizing externalities: The question is to know how it is possible to promote the benefits of knowledge and that the internalization mechanisms aim to compensate for the inefficiency generated by the externality. The objective is twofold: on the one hand, to show that cooperation in R&D is a determining element in the growth process. On the other hand, we defend the idea that technological cooperation relations make it possible to overcome shortcomings and restore market conditions. We are adopting a new approach called learning through cooperation in R&D as a new key determinant of endogenous growth to address the problem of R&D incentives by considering the R&D activity only from the angle of the perfectly codifiable result and therefore diffusable.
