شهدت تعليميّة الّلغات تطوّرا هائلا في العقدين الأخيرين، ورغم أهميّة هذا العلم إلا أنّه لم ينل حضّه من التّأليف العربيّ كمّا وكيفا، وبالمقابل يواجهنا تراث علميّ ضخم مكتوب، ومنشور باللغتين الفرنسيّة والانكليزيّة.
وبناء عليه؛ ونظرا لأهميّة الموضوع، ودور التّرجمة في نقل المعارف والعلوم والخبرات بين الأمم كان لزاما علينا المشاركة في هذا الحراك المعرفي، لنقل شيء ممّا كتب في هذا الميدان إلى الّلغة العربيّة ذلك أنّ التّرجمة تساهم بصورة غير مباشرة في تطوير الّلسان العربيّ.
وقد وقع الاختيار على كتاب تطوّر تعليم اللغات 5000 سنة من التاريخ لمؤلفه Claude Germain* ، وتعود أهميّة هذا الكتاب و الحاجة الملحّة لترجمة أفكاره الأصوليّة إلى اللّغة العربيّة للأسباب التّالية:
قلّة المراجع العربيّة في اللّسانيّات التّطبيقيّة –بشكل عام- و في مجال تطوّر تعليم اللّغات –بشكل خاصّ-
- يعالج هذا الكتاب موضوع تطوّر تعليم اللغات بطريقة شموليّة؛ حيث يستعرض جميع المراحل الأساسيّة التي يتضمّنها تعليم اللغات بدءا بتحليل الحاجات وانتهاء بتقويم البرنامج اللغوي، كما يعكس الكتاب آخر ما تمّ التوصّل إليه من طرائق، ومقاربات في مجال تعليم اللغات الأجنبيّة.
- مؤلف الكاتب Claude Germain أستاذ كرسي بقسم اللسانيّات، وتعليميّة اللغات بجامعة Québec بــ: Montréal، كرّس الأربعين سنة الأخيرة من عمره في خدمة تعليميّة اللغات، وذلك بمشاركته في العديد من الفرق البحثيّة، والتّنظيمات الحكوميّة لتعليم اللّغات بكندا، كما شارك في العديد من المؤتمرات والملتقيات الدّوليّة التي نال من خلالها استحسان الجميع، ويعدّ هذا الكتاب دليل واضح على اجتهاد الكاتب وجهده في خدمة تعليميّة اللغات، من خلال المسح التّاريخي الذي قام به لــ 5000 سنة من التّاريخ.
ونروم من الدّراسة؛ وضع القارئ في بوتقة تاريخيّة واسعة (5000 سنة من التاريخ)؛ يبصر من خلالها فكرا غربيّا يتحدّث لنا عن تاريخ تعليميّة اللغات، وأهمّ التّوجّهات الفكريّة، والتّيارات اللسانيّة والطّرائق، والمقاربات التّعليميّة، وفوق كل هذا وذاك؛ موقع الّلغة العربيّة من الخارطة التّاريخيّة لتعليم اللغات، كما يراها صاحب الكتاب.

Language education has witnessed a tremendous development in the last two decades, and despite the importance of this science, it did not gain its urgency from Arabic authorship, in terms of quantity or quality, and in return we face a huge scientific heritage written and published in both French and English.
Accordingly; Given the importance of the topic, and the role of translation in transferring knowledge, sciences and experiences among nations, we had to participate in this knowledge movement, to transfer something written in this field to the Arabic language, since translation contributes indirectly to the development of the Arabic tongue.
The book The Evolution of Language Teaching, 5000 Years of History, by Claude Germain * was chosen. The importance of this book and the urgent need to translate his fundamentalist ideas into Arabic are due to the following reasons:

This book deals with the development of language teaching in a holistic manner. Where it reviews all the basic stages included in language education, starting with the analysis of needs and ending with the evaluation of the language program, the book also reflects the latest findings of methods and approaches in the field of foreign language education.
The author of the writer Claude Germain, Chair Professor in the Department of Linguistics and Language Teaching at the University of Québec in Montréal, he devoted the last forty years of his life to the service of language education, by participating in many research teams and government organizations to teach languages in Canada, and he also participated in many conferences and forums This book is a clear evidence of the author's diligence and effort in the service of language education, through the historical survey he has made for 5,000 years of history.
We want from the study: Placing the reader in a vast historical crucible (5000 years of history); Through it, he sees a Western thought that talks to us about the history of language education, the most important intellectual trends, linguistic currents and methods, educational approaches, and above all this and that. The Arabic language site is part of the historical map for teaching languages, as seen by the author of the book.
