هدفت الدراسة إلى رصد معايير الاختيار الزواجي لدى عينة من الشباب المصري والتعرف على طرق الاختيار الزواجي والتحديات التي تواجهها. بالإضافة إلى التعرف على التغيرات التي احدثتها التغيرات الاقتصادية على بعض معايير الاختيار الزواجي. وقد اعتمدت الدراسة على المنهج الأنثروبولوجي، ونظرية الفعل الاجتماعي. وأجريت على عينة من الشباب الجامعي بجامعتي القاهرة والإسكندرية، حيث تم إجراء مناقشات الجماعة البؤرية للحصول على البيانات الكيفية، وتطبيق الاستبانة للحصول على البيانات الكمية. وتوصلت الدراسة إلى عدة نتائج أهمها؛ تمثلت معايير الاختيار الزواجي لدى الشباب من الذكور في؛ السمعة الطيبة وحسن الخلق (85,3%)، الحب المتبادل (68,2%)، القدرة على تحمل المسؤولية، العزوبية (67%). بينما لدى الفتيات تمثلت في؛ التجاور المكاني والقدرة على تحمل المسئولية (98%)، المستوى الاجتماعي لشريك الحياة (97%)، الراحة النفسية (96%)، الحب المتبادل (93,3%). أشار (63%) أن عملية الاختيار الزواجي تتم بكل حرية دون وجود عوائق وتحديات، بينما أشار (37%) عكس ذلك. هذا بالإضافة إلى أن التغيرات الاقتصادية الراهنة ساهمت في إحداث بعض التغيرات في معايير الاختيار الزواجي حيث أبدت الفتيات معدلات أعلى من الشباب من الذكور فيما يتعلق بالتنازل عن بعض تلك المعايير.

This study aimed to determine the criteria of marriage selection among Egyptian youth and to identify the methods of marriage selection and its challenges, recognize the changes in marital selection criteria as a result of the economic conditions. The study based on the anthropological approach, and social action theory.
The study was conducted on a sample of university youth at Cairo University and Alexandria University. Focus group discussions were conducted to obtain qualitative data, and the questionnaire was applied to obtain quantitative data. The study found that; the criteria for marital selection among male youth were: good reputation and morals (85.3%), mutual love (68.2%), ability to take responsibility, celibacy (67%). In addition to, marital selection criteria among girls; spatial adjacency and the ability to take responsibility (98%), the social level of life partner (97%), psychological comfort (96%), mutual love (93.3%), (63%) noted that marriage selection is conducted freely without any obstacles and challenges, while (37%) said the opposite.
Moreover, The Current economic changes have altered some marital selection criteria. Girls have higher rates of giving up from some of marital selection criteria compared to males.
