ينظر الإسلام إلى المال على أنه مجرد وسيلة لا غاية، و أنه في حد ذاته ليس خيرا بإطلاق، و لا شرا بإطلاق، و إنما هو أداة خاضعة لمشيئة الإنسان، إن سخره في طريق الخير و سبل النفع، و أدى فيه حق الله و حق العباد فهو خير كله، و إن هو سلك به مسلك الإثم و الفساد فهو شر لا خير فيه، و هكذا يجد المتتبع لتعاليم الإسلام الواردة في كتاب الله وسنة رسوله اه ش (ص)، أن الشريعة الإسلامية تناولت شؤون المال بالتنظيم و التوجيه فبينت طرق كسبه، و تنميته و استثماره و المحافظة عليه، و كيفية إنفاقه.
و فيما يتصل بطرق اكتساب المال، تجد القرآن يأمر بتحصيله عن طريق التجارة و الصناعة و الزارعة، و هي المصادر الطبيعية لتحصيل الأموال و الأسس القوية التي تقوم عليها كل الحضارات، ثم جاءت السنة لتؤكد هذا الأمر و توضحه و تفصل فيه، و بين أن الفقر في أحيان كثيرة خطر على المجتمع، يمنع استقراره، و يجعل للرذيلة و الفساد مكانا فيه.
