تمر بالأمة الإسلامية حالة من الضعف، وذلك بسبب ما لحق بفكرها الناصع وبعقيدتها الأصيلة؛ شيء من الغلو، وبعض الانحرافات الفكرية، التي كانت وراء ما تعانيه من التخلف، كما كان لحالة الصراع الذي تعيشه اليوم بسبب موجة التآمرات الموجهة إليها من قبل أعدائها الكثير من الانتكاسات والحيلولة دون النهوض والريادة، ولهذا تهدف هده الدراسة إلى استجلاء ملامح الإرهاب، وحقيقة الدعاوى الغربية في محاربته، وترمي إلى أهمية مراجعة مفهوم الإرهاب، وتوجيهه على الإسلام والمسلمين دون غيرهم، وإلى ضرورة إعادة صوغ مفاهيم الإرهاب وأساليب مكافحته. كما تسلط الدراسة الضوء على قضية هامة ليست بالجديدة؛ بل هي قديمة بقدم البشرية، ولكن تتجدد أساليبها وتتطور مع تطور الحياة المادية للبشرية بما يتناسب مع لغة العصر؛ وهي قضية الصراع الحضاري (العقائدي)، كما تكشف عن حقيقة الصراع القائم بين الحضارات والتنافس العقائدي، وبيان أن التكامل في هذا الصراع لا يتم إلا بحضورِ فعلي لسنة التدافع بين الأطراف المتصارعة. وتتناول الدراسة نماذج من المهازل الغربية الأمريكية؛ التي لا زالت تتوالى على الأمة، ولا زال المجتمع المسلم ينخدع بأكاذيبها وألاعيبها، وخلص إلى ضرورة الوصول إلى مفهوم شامل جامع للإرهاب تبرأ من خلاله ساحة المسلمين، كما خلص إلى حتمية التسليم بأن هذا الصراع لن يتغير مع تطور دعوى الديمقراطية والحرية وحقوق الإنسان، وأن هذه ضرورة ملحة تفرضها العقائد والثقافات.
