The effect of coupled-channel calculations on the total fusion reaction cross section σfus, and the fusion barrierdistribution Dfus for the systems 46Ti+46Ti and 58Ni+58Ni by means of semiclassical approach are discussed. Thesemiclassical approach used in the present work based on the method of the Alder and Winther for Coulombexcitation. The semiclassical calculations are compared with the full quantum mechanical calculations includingthe coupling effects has been performed using CCFULL code with all order coupling and with availablexperimental data. The χ2 values for the case of no coupling and coupling effects included shows clearly that thepresent semiclassical calculations are more consistent with the experimental data than the full quantummechanical calculations.
