إن الغرض من التعليم الإلكتروني هو تحقيق أهداف التعلم المرجوة، فأهداف التعلم تتأثر بالبيئة، والتكنولوجيا، وتحصيل الطالب وغيرها، فهناك عدد من الأساليب التدريسية التي يستطيع المعلمون توظيفها في التعلم الإلكتروني لضمان تحقيق أهداف المادة التعليمية خاصة للطلبة ذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة، ولكن يجب أن يمتلك الطالب دافعية والتزامًا ومسؤولية لضمان تحقيق هذه الأهداف، إن القدرة على مواكبة المستجدات السريعة في التكنولوجيا الحديثة يعتمد بشكل رئيسي على الوعي بحجم التحديات والصعوبات التي تواجهنا في جميع المجالات، ومنها تكنولوجيا تقنيات الحاسوب والاتصالات والتي أصبحت تحتاج إلى مثابرة وجهد متواصل لضمان متابعتها والتفاعل معها وتوظيفها لخدمة المجتمع.
