The study sheds light on the role of Yemeni women in the humanitarian action particularly in translation field, in an attempt to identify the role of female interpreters in crisis, and community perception of their translation work. The study follows a qualitative analysis method based on semi structure interview. 10 female interpreters have been interviewed. This study is limited to Yemen context with literature reference to female interpreters working in conflict zones. The findings of the study indicate that the female interpreters working in conflict zones in Yemen are rare, and that the humanitarian organizations, despite being aware of the importance of gender, do not hire women to work in conflict zones due to fact that the work demands negotiation skills and the ability to work in hostile environment. Moreover, the cultural norms impose restrictions on female movement prevent women to travel alone and to work in remote jeopardy areas. There is a need for having female interpreters particularly in humanitarian action and health care sectors. The study recommended the necessity of providing an opportunity for interpreters to work, especially in the humanitarian and health care sectors, which requires the presence of women while interfering in operations that require the presence of female cadres, as well as integrating them into society as a key partner in the construction and development process.
