يجنح عدد من الفلاسفة والمفكرين في المنطقة العربية لوضع العقلية العربية في موقع خاص عن الإنسانية، ما يجعل فهم هذا الاتجاه على أنه محاولة للتمييز، أو أنه محض اختزال للفلسفة وقولبة لعقلية الإنسان المعاصر، وهو ما يُعَدُّ منحى غير مرغوب في ذهنية الإنسان العالمي، ولا يصبّ في صالح الفلسفة العربية. والتي تهتم بتفنيد مشاكل المنطقة العربية ومحاولة فهمها وتقديم حلول لها، ولكن لا يمكن لها أن تحمل خطاب للإنسان العالمي.
وهنا يظهر الفارق بين مسار الفلسفة الغربية والعربية والذي يكمن في الهدف الذي ترمي إليه كل فلسفة على حدة؛ فإذا كانت الفلسفة العربية تركز على الفكر العربي ومشاكل المجتمع المتحدث باللغة العربية أو يحمل هوية المنطقة، يأتي خطاب الفلسفة الغربية موجِّهًا للإنسانية كلها.
