- Abstract
- Mixed catechol- salicyladiminenate derivatives of antimony (III) and tin (IV) of the general formula M(cate)Ln]X, [where:M= Sb, X= 0; M=Sn, X= Cl; cate=catcchol; n=l, L=aniline, n=2, L=m- bromo-aniline, n=3, L=p-bromoanilinc] were prepared by the reaction of equimolar amount of [(cate)MCln], [where n=l or 2J with N- arylsalicylaldimines HOC6H4CH=NC6H5 (HL1), HOC6H4CH= NC6H4 (HL1) and p-IIOCoH4CH = NC6H4Br (HL3) in methanol as a solvent. These new derivatives were characterised by elemental analysis and spectroscopic methods [(l.R), (U.V-Vis) and I'M, l3C NMR for HL2)] along with conductivity and melting point measurements. These studies revealed that the geometry about Sb (III) and Sn (IV) is tetrahedral.
