Abstract
Poultry tuberculosis (Avian TB) is a chronic wasting disease caused by infection with Mycobacterium avium that can also infect an extensive range of different animal species (Domestic poultry are highly susceptible, a wide range of bird species ,game birds, cage birds etc and may infect a number of mammalian species. In bird species, M. avium causes a chronic debilitating disease with tubercular nodes. TB may develop when they are in contact with infected chickens. morbidity and mortality are high. M. avium is not found in the commercial poultry industry today. Poultry flocks with this disease must be euthanized because there is no treatment available to eradicate Avian TB, stringent measures are required M. avium are widely distributed in the environment, comprises slow-growing Mycobacterium that are ubiquitous isolated from soil, waste water, water tanks, aerosols, protozoa, vegetation, animals, and humans. The bacterium resists heat, cold, water, dryness, pH changes and many disinfectants. Risk of introduction Avian TB could be introduced into a previously free country with importations of infected live birds (including companion and zoological species). The main source of infections in humans is environment, caused by inhalation ,ingestion food or water that has been contaminated with feces from infected birds. The incidence of M. avium in humans Lung disease is the most common form of infection and has shown an increasing tendency as human and bovine tuberculosis has begun to be eradicated in developed countries and may typically cause local wound infections with swelling of lymph nodes in the region of the infection.. Hypersensitivity pneumonitis to inhaled aerosols has been described .Transmission from human to human has yet to be convincingly demonstrated . The study was aimed to investigate the Iraqi human infected by avian tuberculosis poultry. A differential diagnosis don on 250 isolates of mycobacterim after, culturing on lj medium from patients visit the laboratory of Specialized Chest and Respiratory Diseases Center \ Baghdad,.through the study's results show that no infected with the germ of avian tuberculosis.
