Abstract
This paper attempts to study the traditional text of Rabea’ Jaber’s Lord of Darkness which its events took place during the Turkish era. The novel deals with the theme of repression. It contains a number of texts which belong to the ancient Arabic works, especially the narrative ones.
Perhaps the most important are Alf Lilah wa Lilah "Thousand and One Nights" and Muroj Al-Thahab "Meadows of Gold" by Al- Masoudi. The traditional texts are classified into quoted paragraphs and quoted sentences. The researcher concludes that the traditional texts have combined with other components of the novel that formed an integrated structure, which is the novelist’s desire to create literary texts based on the discourse and characterized by the following features: the reduction of time and the closure of episode, the linguistic structure and it’s utilization, the dream, the rhythm, among other techniques
