- Abstract
- Over the past decades, many researchers argued different aspects of ethical considerations regarding scientific research. There is substantial body of literature arguing about self-plagiarism phenomenon. It is a problematic issue which raised controversy among researchers. While proponents consider ethical and legal issues, opponents argue about misnomer and the contradictory of plagiarizing researcher‟s own work. This paper aims to explore this phenomenon. Furthermore, scientific research practices that may lead to this phenomenon were reviewed. Drawing upon this review, we conclude some guidelines for researchers to avoid self-plagiarism.
