دخل علم الاجتماع الجامعة الليبية عام 1954، حيث أصبح قسماً علمياً إلى جانب الفلسفة، تحت مسمى قسم الدراسات الفلسفية والاجتماعية، وانضم إليه عدد من الأساتذة اللامعين آنذاك على المستوى العربي ممن كوّنوا لبنة علماء (علم) الاجتماع في مصر، والعراق، وبعد سنوات من ذلك التأسيس انضم إلى ذلك القسم عدد من الأساتذة الليبيين، كما انفصل علم الاجتماع عن الفلسفة وأصبح علماً قائماً بذاته، تحت مسمى علم الاجتماع تعج به جُلّ الجامعات الليبية، والتي أصبح عددها يتجاوز حالياً أربعة عشر جامعة. وبعد مرور حوالي ستين عاماً على هذا التأسيس فإن السؤال القديم الجديد والجوهري الذي لا يزال يقفز إلى الذهن هنا هو: هل هناك حاجة إلى استمرار وجود أقسام علم الاجتماع في الجامعات الليبية؟ وبمعني آخر: هل هناك فوائد جناها المجتمع الليبي من مخرجات علم الاجتماع بعد ستين عامٍ على تأسيسه؟
Abstract
he University of Libya entered the Libyan University in 1954, where it became a scientific section in addition to philosophy, under the name of the Department of Philosophical and Social Studies, and was joined by a number of brilliant professors at the time at the Arab level who formed the building blocks of meeting scientists in Egypt, Iraq, and years later The foundation was joined by a number of Libyan professors. Sociology was separated from philosophy and became a stand-alone science under the name of sociology, which is filled with most Libyan universities, which now number fourteen.Nearly sixty years after this establishment, the old and new, fundamental question that still springs to mind here is: Is there a need for the continued presence of sociology departments in Libyan universities? In other words, are there benefits gained by the Libyan society from the outputs of sociology sixty years after its founding؟
