إذا كانت ثقافة أيّ عصر تميل باستمرار إلى خلق نمط حياة جديدة، وتنتج معارف وسلوكيات مخالفة لما كان سائدا عبر توالي العصور، فلأن مرد ذلك اهتمام الفرد بما يخدم مصلحته الذاتية، وإذا كان الأمر كذلك مع راهن الثقافة الجديدة، أو ما أصبح يطلق عليه بالبارديغم Paradigm ، فإن مصطلح الهوية "التقليدية" كانت دوما متماسكة في اختياراتها، داخل النسق المتعارف عليه، حيث يصاغ كل شيء داخل المجتمع، أو شريحة اجتماعية ما، في تبنيها المعاني والقيم المشتركة المتعارف عليها، وبالنظر إلى هذه الحدود الفاصلة، فإن نسق البراديغمParadigm متغير باستمرار، في حين تبدو الهوية محافظة على سرِّ الاستمرارية ـ مع التحفظ وبشدة على نسبة التحولات وإمكانية التغييرات ـ في توجيهها لمعاني القيم المشتركة بين الناس؛ الأمر الذي تبدو معه العلاقات المترابطة منفلتة في المدة الأخيرة، ومنزاحة عن الثوابت ذات المضامين المتفق عليها، وخالية من أيِّ فائدة منوطة بالمعايير والتصورات التي ينبغي لهيئة الوضع أن يكون عليه.
