Abstract
The RFID technology stands at the forefront of the technologies driving the Internet of Things (IoT) and Internet of Everything (IoE) vision. However, using RFID technology has bleeding edges in adopting it for sensitive applications because RFID still has security and privacy issues. This paper reviews the state-of-the-art of RFID and security issues and proposes an enhancement for three-pass authentication protocol based on passive RFID and cryptographic services (i.e., digital signature and password-based encryption schemes) to make the adoption of such sensitive applications more practical. As a proof of concept, this paper proposes a secure Elibrary management system (SELMS) and gives the architectural and detailed design of the system modules in terms of Unified Modeling Language (UML) diagrams to facilitate the implementation of such system in a real environment. ‏
