The treated-wastewater reuse could generate an economy of potable water and reduces the sanitary risk related to the untreated-wastewater reuse in agriculture. The "MHEA® Experimental Centre in M'Diq, NW of Morocco" project aims to propose MHEA® systems for wastewater treatment adapted to the socio-economic and environmental contexts of the Moroccan agriculh1Ial zones under Mediterranean c1imate. The results obtained during the 2001-2003 period show an important treatment performance in the MHEA® system constituted by an aquatic ecosystem, followed by an unplanted and Salix purpurea-terrestrial ecosystems. The microbiological quality of waters treated respects the World Health Organization directive standards for reuse without restriction in agriculture.
