نحاول من خلال هذه الدراسة الوقوف على أهمية الاستشراف بالنسبة للدراسات السياسية والاستراتيجية ، وذلك باعتبار الدراسات المستقبلية تقوم على متابعة عدد من المتغيرات ، وتتبع اتجاهاتها الحالية فيما يخص مختلف المجالات، واعتماداً على هذه البيانات يتم خلق سيناريوهات مختلفة للأحداث المستقبلية المحتملة ، والتي يتم ادراجها في التخطيط الاستراتيجي الخاص بأي من تلك المجالات، والعلوم السياسية من المجالات الحيوية التي تسعى الى توظيف هذا النوع من الدراسات، مما يمكنها من تصور المستقبل ووضع البدائل والسيناريوهات أثناء صنع القرار السياسي وما يمكن أن تظيفه هذه الدراسات للدراسات السياسية والاستراتيجية من قدرة على مواجهة المستقبل والازمات التي قد تواجه صانع القرار السياسي.
